MONOLOGUE
2017, Single Channel Video Installation, 11 minutes 51 seconds, Color, Stereo Sound
Monologue brings together the photographs made by Arif, a 13 years old refugee from Syria, with a re-vocalized transcript of an interview with the elected representative of the neighborhood he was living in. In this manner, a conversation between self and otherness comes to life. Arif migrated to Ankara, Turkey with his family in 2015 from a city that had experienced the catastrophe in a very deep sense: Aleppo.
